Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS)

Here at Dulles we believe in Positive Behavior Intervention and Support for all students. The purpose and objective of PBIS is to ensure all students develop the social-emotional-behavioral skills needed to be effective learners through the implementation of evidence-based interventions and use of data to inform decisions. What this means for your student is we will teach expectations, reteach them and follow our progressive discipline to create a safe environment for all students.

Teachers work with students demonstrating minor misbehaviors and may use the following strategies:

  • Reteach the student expectations
  • Re-direct
  • Provide choice
  • Student conference
  • Home contact
  • Restrict privileges

Teacher, parent and principal work together with students demonstrating major misbehaviors may use the following strategies:

  • Social Skills Reteach 
  • Parent Contact
  • Counseling 
  • Behavior Contract
  • Home/School Plan
  • Or other consequence per education code (suspension, expulsion)
